“Turning Dreams into Reality” Re-facing is a budget
option which uses the existing framing by removing the
wood decking and replacing with composite decking.
Normally this option is only viable for those decks that
are less than 10 years old.
Even then, the framing
requires a complete structural inspection and may
require modification to properly support the new
decking.
Usually a new railing system is installed, steps
re-built, and there is the opportunity to upgrade by
adding items such as a cooking “bump-out”, lighting,
planters, and undertrim.
Regardless, the finished deck must be current building
code compliant.
